In the Phoenix New Times article you linked to about the Shaman's suit against Trump et al, it says he is suing for "$40 trillion", not the mere "$40 million" you are saying. I know you said it was too stupid to explain (an understatement), but I couldn't resist looking since you provided the link. But he is only claiming a mere $1 trillion for himself - the rest is going to various strange places.
Gress is on a press tour grandstanding and claiming “legislative oversight” powers that don’t exist. The Auditor Generals Office exists for a reason. He can’t just expect to go to any school district and poke his nose wherever he wants for free. While $26,000 is steep it is entirely legal and if he doesn’t like it maybe he should change the public records request laws to make them better for all of us? I don’t think that Tolleson Union has been accused of mismanaging its budget, that usually means overspending and financial difficulties. It has actually been the opposite. Legislators have complained that TUHSD has accumulated too much money since the district was able to loan money to Isaac Elementary District earlier this year.
