For years now, I have thought that Trump back in the White House was the scariest thing I could imagine. But I find that the idea of JD Vance as President is even scarier!

Trump. Kari Lake. Election deniers. Lawsuits. Violence from losers.

About this prediction: "If Trump loses, there’s gonna be chaos in the streets, riots in the Capitol and even the potential for a civil war." I know we're supposed to have fun with scary things on Halloween, but to get real for a second: the vast majority of people who support any political position complain on their phones or yell at the TV. We do have violent people, but they are the exception. I don't deny that there could be bad incidents, but they will be the exception, not the rule. If Trump loses, there will be attempts in courtrooms, election boards, and Congress to block a Harris win, but without a President spurring people on, I just don't think there will be an attack on the Capitol or extended "chaos in the streets", as opposed to random individuals yelling things. Of course I could be wrong, and law enforcement is undoubtedly going to be braced for the worst, but I think that it's lawyers and public officials who are going to be doing the "fighting."

Anyway, that's my 2 cents' worth. Which doesn't buy pretty much anything, but still ...

I hope you are right but when Trump talks believe what he says. He has not paid a cent or spent a day in court for any of his felonies, civil suits or acts against the government. No punishment means no redemption. Mitch McConnell gave him the courts this could be a coup. I hear Portugal is a nice place for an expat.

Sorry, he did go to court, but appeal, appeal, appeal.

We are going to have a fair election where every vote will be counted… . I just don’t think… I don’t have the fear that you do Hank… We’re going to have an election in the votes are going to be counted fairly. hopefully your fears will not be realized during that process

Several things send a chill down my spine: 1. Outright lies in ads from both parties, 2. All the hysteria about the future if either candidate wins, 3. Reporters not digging deeper during interviews, and 4. massive amounts of dollars buying allegiance to a viewpoint. The average voter has to do a lot of investigative digging to make an informed choice and it can be the reason many do not bother to put in the effort.

The art-intern is about ready for the sale of an edition of his/her collection👍🏻.

Which rioters were arrested at the Capitol for firearms? None. Trying to stage a rebellion unarmed is an act of frustration not insurrection. Further, on J6 Trump told them to march on he Capitol with this phrase -per Newsweek " "I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard," Trump said in his speech. "Today we will see whether Republicans stand strong for [the] integrity of our elections, but whether or not they stand strong for our country, our country. Our country has been under siege for a long time, far longer than this four-year period."

So, I submit that your hysteria is typical media hyperbole and beneath the dignity of this publication.

Read the J6 report. You can borrow mine. Making excuses for him has got to be exhausting. And no children don’t go to school and come home another sex. If a school has a nurse they might get a bandaid.

The J6 report authored by a host of TDS haters? Purely a political document for show. Trump was not charged with treason or sedition which Lynn Cheney (the daughter of Darth Vader) wanted.

As to your other topic, some states do allow transition medical atrocities to minors without parental consent-a form of mental illness.

I don’t know what a TDS hater is? Is it Republican code for everyone’s wrong and mean to Trump) 😂😂 I’m sorry if you don’t think the coup on 1/6 was propagated and pushed by Trump. I tuned into see who won the Georgia Senate race and saw the worst image I’d seen since 9/11. If you watched Fox🤷‍♀️ You might have missed the carnage. Kevin McCarthy refused to put serious Republicans on the committee. Jordan and Comer weren’t cutting it as they too were instigators). To be honest with you, I’ve been a Republican, I’ve voted for Republicans, John McCain. Trump was good to him?? I want that Republican Party back so they can fight like cats and dogs (not eat them) and come to a consensus. MAGA has ruined your party and let mine get too wacky. Peace. I’ve voted since 1972. Please, let’s get along.

McCain hated conservatives, so that choice explains your thinking...such as it is.

You wouldn't know a "conservative" from cannoli. Chump is an infantile, juvenile, self-loathing, pre-teen. Karma in its pure form is two 300lb. Latino/Puerto Rican guys introducing Chump to several inches of concrete. Over and over. We can call that a "love fest". A day of "love". Works for me. We will fight to marginalize him and people like you who support him forever. I have time.

I have to agree with your assessment of a Trump loss and a Trump win. BTW, I have a friend who is a conservative Republican I am definitely not. We try and stay away from politics but she couldn’t help from telling me how great it was Trump worked at McDonalds. After a huge eye roll I said it was staged. Shut the place down taught him how to put on an apron and how to fill a little box of fries. She shook her head and said we watch different news channels. I thought is that what our country has come down to?

Y’all, along with other local media types, consistently disparage GOP support for requiring proof of citizenship to registered vote. Yet it is obvious, especially with so many non-citizens now resident in the country, that we unnecessarily expose our voter registration process to risk by not requiring proof of citizenship. Hope to see you address this more objectively in the future. For now, this exert from today’s National Review is noteworthy: “We also now know that the vote total in Michigan will include one illegal vote from a Chinese student:

The 19-year-old from China was legally present in the United States but not a citizen, which meant he couldn’t legally cast a ballot, according to information from the Michigan Secretary of State’s office. He registered to vote on Sunday using his UM student identification and other documentation establishing residency in Ann Arbor, signed a document identifying himself as a U.S. citizen and his ballot was entered into a tabulator, according to the Secretary of State’s office. Democrats keep hoping that when you hear the argument “illegal voting is rare” — which is true enough, but something of a dodge — your ears will hear “illegal voting is nonexistent or unimportant.””

If you can find an edition where we've ever said you shouldn't need id to vote, i'll apologize. I do think illegal voting is exceedingly rare and most cases are seemingly caught, as this case you point out shows. But that's wild i hadn't read that will go look it up

It takes a craftsman to build a barn, but any dim witted yutz with a match can take one down. If he gets in again I am fairly certain that tRump and his merry band will try hard to be that yutz.

I am utilizing the ACA until Medicare eligible, spent decades earning Soc Sec credits, and saved enough to retire well. Another term with the Fat Man (now with a deranged Elon in his wounded ear) would put all of my plans at risk. The lickspittles in what is left of my Republican Party would all go right along this time.

The anxiety I feel is 2020 on steroids. I read Project 2025 over the course of several days. Regardless of outcome, we know the unhinged will go bonkers. The guard rails that were in place 4 yrs ago no longer exist. I wish the right could logically explain to me how so many of the folks who served in his first administration are now the enemy for speaking out against him. They should be commended (albeit, some only very recently) for warning us about him. Instead his followers call them the traitors? Some of his followers are the type of folks who would’ve dimed out Anne Frank.

I'll keep my comment simple. The way I see it......The larger the EV for a Harris win ends up = how extreme the MAGA folks respond. So, let's not only hope for a Trump defeat, but a Trump shellacking!!
