Is the fact that late-night talk/comedy shows never have any conservative guests also a threat to freedom of speech? After all, they are broadcast on public airways even though they are privately owned.

I am not saying that the government should force them to have guests of varied political views. I am just saying that we need to recognize the fact that they are not promoters of free speech, if you think balanced speech is good.

If I wanted a conservative point of view I’d watch Greg Gutfeld on Fox. (I don’t!) Freedom of Speech also applies to freedom to listen.

This will make you laugh:

Hook's Waltz lyrics from Peter Pan have been updated tRump's Waltz:

Who's the swiniest swine in world?

(Donald Trump! Donald Trump!)

Who's the dirtiest dog in this wonderful world?

(Donald Trump! Donald Trump!)

Captain of villainy

Madder and loot lout

Eager to kill any

Who says that his mug isn't cute!

(It's cute!)

Ahahahah!

Slimiest rat in the pack?

(Donald Trump! Donald Trump!)

Who's unlaughable?

(You!)

Who's unliftable?

(You!)

Whose existence is quite unforgivable?

(You!)

Who would stoop to the cheapest and lowest

Of tricks in the book?

(Tricks in the book)

Blame me, slay me,

Donald Trump!

Did you see the 30 Rock where Jack is looking for a comedian for a conservative event and he gets Tracy Jordan after interviewing Tim Conway?

Then they should feel right at home on Kimmel’s show. If you want to watch funny, watch Johnny Carson reruns on Youtube.

JC used to feature W.F. Buckley, AUH20, and Ronnie frequently. They were "conservatives". Todays MAGA creatures are humorless Storm-Troopers. Nobody is going to have their Producer book Steve Bannon as a guest. Nobody.

they are not just comedy shows. They are also talk shows and they were plenty of mainstream conservatives who could be guests.

This is entertainment. It's a free country, if you don't like it, don't watch it. "Entertainment news" does not typically invite progressive guests to be on their shows ... and they don't have to.

I never said they should be forced. But to claim that they’re protecting free speech when they don’t let conservative guests on their shows, it’s pretty hypocritical.

There is no such thing as a "conservative" guest John. It's either MAGA or White Nationalist. Conservatism is dead as long as the orange nightmare is in the oval office. The "conservatives" in office could have stopped this 10 years ago but didn't. They would get booed at of the building if they showed up on late night television.

“There’s money in superintendent-ing: An ABC15 analysis of school administrator contracts and salary data from across the state found one state superintendent could make almost half a million dollars this year in salary and other compensation, writes Melissa Blasius. A different analysis from the Goldwater Institute found there are as many as ten different ways school districts hide the true level of pay for superintendents.” https://www.goldwaterinstitute.org/policy-report/the-hidden-ways-arizona-school-superintendents-are-paid/

Most important link in today’s post, especially for skeptics of Arizona’s ESA program (if I am reading the analysis correctly, the actual cost of administration in traditional government school districts is astronomical, far exceeding any claimed misapplication of ESA funds - adding I am among those who thinks the state should invest additional resources in oversight of the ESA program - just as I believe any expenditure of public resources should be transparent and subject to scrutiny - put another way, to me, this illustrates the hypocrisy of ESA critics who ignore this and other abuses of public trust in the traditional government school space, while student performance scores in basic subjects, reading and math, continue to drop).

I’ve served on a school board in a small northern Arizona district and interviewed those applying for a Superintendent positions. The best ones we made offers to first often went to larger districts who could pay more. You wouldn’t know it but these people are in high demand, especially the good ones.

Looking at District schools budgets and charter, ESA, are completely different. The requirements for district schools is much more rigorous. That costs money.
