Now, the baseball team is set to receive an estimated $1.2 billion in taxpayer dollars over 30 years for upgrades at its home stadium, Chase Field.
Yesterday, Gov. Katie Hobbs hosted a ceremonial signing of the bill that won the Diamondbacks a decade-long fight to subsidize a private franchise with public money.
