The primary election is over, meaning we’re entering a brief window of downtime before the November election.
So the Agenda team is taking our summer break.
We’ll be back on August 17.
All of our reporters had some vacation time scheduled in the next few weeks, and rather than try to drag ourselves short-staffed through the dog days of the election lull while most of our readers are off in Mission Beach anyway, we’re gonna take a beat to catch our breath.
So far this year, we’ve put out 272 editions between the Arizona Agenda and Tucson Agenda.
We took one week off in March, but otherwise it has been a seven-month sprint.
We’re a small team, and having just one person out means about 20% more stress on the rest of us. So rather than do that back-to-back for a few weeks right before we head into the thick of the general election, we’re taking some time to refresh.
Keeping the Agenda fun, fresh and informative requires the kind of creative energy that slowly drains away after months and months of the daily grind on Arizona’s politicians.
Those (nearly) three weeks of not publishing aren’t fully vacation.
But it means that all of our reporters have a week to catch up, a week to work ahead on bigger investigative stories and a week to actually rest and see their families (or the beach).
