Regarding: "As state budgeteers finally return to work today...," the Senate has been coming in for meetings with the governor's staff on the budget for the past two weeks. We would have started sooner, but the governor insisted on waiting until Prop 123 passed.
Regarding: "And the clock is ticking to get a budget done before the government shuts down on July 1," a budgetless state government will not shut down on June 1st. Most agencies will be fine until sometime in August, but it will not take that long to get a budget.
But if we do not have a budget by June 30th, have a reporter get a shot of them removing the clock from the House chamber wall at midnight. It's a meaningless gesture, but a great visual.
Good to hear from you regardless of the Hobbs jab. You guys better get this budget done in a week as Matt (my wedding is the 23rd in Italy) Gress is leaving. His planning was not thought through. He is my District 4 Rep. I did call and wish him well, well his machine anyway. It has got to be difficult not knowing what will be stripped from AHCCCS in the “Big Beautiful kill all the people to give billionaires a Tax Break”. Good luck. I know you work hard.
One thing is certain...the astounding velocity and ascension of AI will affect us all quicker than we like. This is virgin territory. Nobody wants to fall behind the Chinese, so, pedal to the metal. This will make it difficult to keep up with the leaps and bounds of AI in everyday life.
My heart goes out to Blackman as I too have suffered a traumatic brain injury. The headaches are real and get better and worse with the weather, barometric pressure. The hand shaking, speech, even walking can be difficult. I am not in his district and do not live near his constituency. The memory thing is really sad. I did recover a lot of my memory. This bears the question if being a state Rep. is right for his type of disability, in that, people’s lives and the complexity of the office is varied great. Just my opinion and I do not know the man. I wish him, his family, friends and constituents luck and thank him for his service.
