What is the objection to solar here? I grew up here and am back for family reasons. Where I live I have solar and it’s fantastic! Is it the Old West mentality? The fossil fuel lobby? Ignorant politicians? Why on earth would people in one of the sunniest places on earth pass up power like that? I got mine 8 years ago, it’s paid for itself and is paid off, I own it, 20-year warranty, and I never feel guilty about turning on my AC. Bills are so low sometimes it’s zero, and what I don’t use I get credit for. And, it’s renewable, unlike fossil fuels. WTH? Please explain.

I have no idea. In the 70’s and early 80’s there was a tax credit in Arizona for using solar hot water heaters and other forms of solar but it was too smart for Arizona legislatures. Now we have soaring prices. Lucky us.

Leaving for the east coast this morning. Can hardly wait for the pissed off TSA people searching me and my luggage. Trump doesn’t like them more now during the first shit down. This is gonna be a long one.

I think it a bit hypocritical that some people want to ditch data centers because they think they will raise electric rates but the same people have had no problem with highly subsidized solar.

Also, if we ditch data centers, the Arizona Agenda will have to fire its art intern, ChatGPT. It’s a two way street and you can’t have your cake bytes and eat them.

Solar is the way to go. Data centers use a lot of water, what we in AZ can't afford to use for data centers. Personally, I am extremely unhappy with your decisions that affect AZ, as well as the other Republicans running our state.

Stopping data centers will stop AI, which will put us at a severe competitive disadvantage technologically and educationally.

All large electricity users can be billed fairly to carry their own weight and AI data centers can be air-cooled.

True to form, most environmentalists and Dems are falling on the wrong side of this issue.

Senator Kavanagh, I urge you to read about the AI bubble. Also, as was pointed out, data centers use a lot of water and electricity and drive up our electric bills. See APS request for a 14% rate increase. Data centers provide very few jobs. Solar, on the other hand uses very little water, generates electricity, provides good jobs, and helps lower bills. Asking for accountability and eliminating the subsidies for data center billionaires is the least the legislature should do. Also, I noticed you do not even mention the generational subsidies for fossil fuels. Anyway, I doubt the legislature will have a thoughtful discussion or debate on data centers, or really anything, quite sadly.

Without data centers, there can be no AI, and people want AI and ChatGPT. Schools, universities and businesses also need AI. Environmentalists are on the wrong side of this issue. Also, AI can be made to pay its fair share of electric costs, unlike home solar. Also, data centers can be air-cooled.

What jobs does solar provide after workers install the panels made in China? And incentives for tech people pay off, just think computer companies and their support companies.

"Also, AI can be made to pay its fair share of electric costs, unlike home solar." AI doesn't pay anything since AI is not a company.

"Also, data centers can be air-cooled." How does that work in our summers that are getting hotter and hotter thanks to the GOP and their lack of interest in our environment? Clearly you believe that environmentalists are on the wrong side of the issue since the GOP has no respect for our planet and all the living creatures that inhabit it.

"What jobs does solar provide after workers install the panels made in China?" Maintenance, just like data centers. BTW, thanks to the GOP all prices are sky rocketing.

Also, encourage your party to release the Epstein Files instead of protecting pedophiles. How about some pressure to swear in Adelita Grijalva? Why is M. Johnson giving Congressmen and Congresswomen paid vacations instead of working during this Republican shutdown? Why do they get free healthcare while the average American pays sky rocketing prices?
